Mutant mouse technology represents a powerful tool to investigate the genetic basis of behavior
and to elucidate the mechanisms underlying neurological and psychiatric diseases.
The Neurobiology and Behavior service has developed a test battery adapted to the mouse. This includes analysis of sensory responses, motor abilities, cognitive functions and behaviors related to symptoms of neuropsychiatric disorders such as anxiety, depression and schizophrenia. Tests may be utilized as a package for phenotyping genetically modified mice or to screen for potential therapeutics. Alternatively, individual tests may be used as required.
