MultiPlex endocrine panel

Purpose

Most of the endocrine functions can be evaluated through the measurement of several circulating hormones. Different panels of mouse hormones, cytokines, or proteins are determined using a Multiplex technology.

Panels currently available:

  • Mouse cytokines: Eotaxin, G-CSF, GM-CSF, IFN-γ, IL-10, IL-12 (p40), IL-12 (p70), IL-13, IL-15, IL-17, IL-1α, IL-1β, IL-2, IL-3, IL-4, IL-5, IL-6, IL-7, IL-9, IP-10, KC, LIF, LIX, M-CSF, MCP-1, MIG, MIP-1α, MIP-1β, MIP-2, RANTES, TNF-α, VEGF in any combination.
  • Mouse metabolic panel (including gut hormones): Amylin (active), C-peptide 2, Ghrelin (active), GIP (total), Glucagon, IL-6, Insulin, Leptin, MCP-1, PP, PYY (total), Resistin, and TNFα in any combination
  • Bone metabolism panel: ACTH (Adrenocorticotropic hormone), IL-6, Insulin, Leptin, TNFα, OPG (Osteopotegrin), OC (Osteocalcin), in any combination

Sample test results

Equipment

MultiPlex analyses are performed on a BioPlex analyser (Life Science/Bio-Rad, Marnes-la-coquette, France).

Recommendations

Blood samples must be collected under standardized conditions (diet, fasting duration...).

Within the same cohort, approximately 9 mice per group are recommended for reliable data analysis.

Elisa/RIA endocrine analysis

Purpose

The measurement of numerous hormones that regulates metabolic function and growth are available (Insulin-like Growth Factor I (IGF-I), Thyroxin (T4), Triiodothyronin (T3), Growth hormone (GH),...). Some steroid hormones can also be evaluated by immunoanalysis in mouse plasma (testosterone, progesterone, corticosterone,...)

Mouse functional genomics requires standardization of mouse handling and housing conditions.
Mamm Genome. 2004 Oct;15(10):768-83.

Equipment

Each hormone is measured using specific mouse ELISA or RIA kit.

Recommendations

Blood samples must be collected under standardized conditions (diet, fasting duration...).

Within the same cohort, approximately 9 mice per group are required for reliable data analysis.
